Finding footprint channels & requirements
Hello All

I am looking to setup a satellite receiver, which can receive foreign channels in addition to the Indian dvb ones. So, I expect to need a receiver that can accept more than two-three cards...at least two for Indian providers and one or more for foreign ones.

I understand that the receiver will need to be satellite tracking one, dish size may need to be bigger and that I will have to subscribe to foreign service.

However, cannot find what channels I can receive at Amritsar, in India and what dish size & other equipment I need in order to do that.

Is there any website where I can key in my location & search for receivable channels, their provider and receiving requirements....e.g. channel abc receivable through xyz service at 5$/month and will need 11 meter dish plus xx equipment attached....something like that.

Also, can someone give pointers to possible high end setup capable of receiving say some pretty far-flung footprints by using a larger dish size & so on.

What exactly is possible in India, budget not being a constraint?

With thanks.
Sanjay.

I can't understand why? Afterall, if multi-card systems are there, one can use multiple services at one time...It will not be piracy of any kind....cards would be bought from the relevant service provider and subscribed on a monthly basis.

Its piracy the govt. wishes to curb, not subscription to multiple services.

IAC, Govt. does not usually specify such things. Are you sure its the law that's barring and not just the practice?

Thanks for this. Very good site. Now, I have what satellites my area can access. But now I need to know what channels are on each satellite & who's the provider. Where can I get this. This site does not seem to have it.

With best regards & thanks.
Sanjay.

You can't get only smart cards from DTH operators. As per my knowledge smart cards work only with STB's provided by operators themselves.
